I watched this video by Bob Proctor and it was just so powerful the way he talks about the creative process and I learnt that it can be used in all forms of life, whether it's building a business, trying a new sport, making money or creating artwork it can be utilized to push yourself further.

The three phases of the creative process are:

Fantasy

Theory

Fact

Fantasy

Everything ever created started off as a fantasy or and idea. The key for a fantasy to turn into a reality is to become emotionally involved. Everytime you come back to the fantasy you build it into your brain and the more you think about it the easier it is to obtain.

When developing from the fantasy stage to the theory stage you begin to make it real in your mind and you start to describe what it is. You put it into words and each word represents a picture, you are painting your picture in words, that is what a book is. That is why when you go to a movie after you have read the book it is usually not as good, because you paint a picture in your mind of what everything will look like. The thing is the movie is like the book, it's just not the movie that you have painted in your mind. There are no budget restraints, no external input and no time limit when it comes to creating from the mind.

Theory

There are some steps that need to be taken before going to the theory stage and that is:

Am I able?

You have to learn that when looking at other creative or practitioners, they were ordinary people too, but they did extraordinary things, they put in the time, the effort in to their practice, and so can we.

"We're ordinary folks and we can do extraordinary things, and we gotta get rid of the idea that they can, but I can't, she's so much better, he's so much better..... no no no no no. They're just doing it better than you, but you can do it better than you're doing it."(Proctor, 2019)

Am I willing?

You have to be willing to pay the price even though you don't know what the price is. The whole point of the creative process is to not get to where we imagine, it's to develop and grow. This kind of mindset will make you become a more intune individual. When you tell yourself that you are willing and able to do something, it becomes a goal.

Whatever attitude you plant is what you are going to produce, if there is lots of doubt, the idea will probably dissolve. If you have an attitude of determination, you won't let anything stop you and you are more likely to succeed.

Fact

Once you have gotten past the fantasy and theory, the creation starts to take place as fact. and when you do this it starts to cause you to grow bigger and better fantasies because you don't put limits on what you can do.

I think this seminar was just amazing, it definitely changed my views on how to tackle the creative process and it is more about your mental attitude rather than just creating things for the sake of it. I have gotten into this mindset of creating art without much of a purpose and this video has made me think about my process and why I am creating the things that I am. I want to challenge myself more to think this way.
