This painting came as more of a challenge for me, as I wanted to have flowers in the background of the image. However, I have barely any experience with painting flowers. At first I thought it would be easy enough, but quickly realised that flowers have a lot of intricate details and shades and it is hard to simplify their shapes. I tried various types of flowers but struggled a fair bit.

I then watched this video by Alex Tzavaras. He explained how to break down the flower into shapes, and even though he was creating a physical painting, the same principles still apply in a digital painting. He talked about how it is important to balance out stronger colours with more neutral colours as flowers are not as bright as we may perceive them.
After watching this video I was able to paint some peonies with much more efficiency and simplicity, I was over complicating the shapes of the other flowers which made them look like blobs rather than flowers.

I tried to work with negative space for the hair but it didn't seem to correlate well with the rest of the image.

I experimented with giving her a face and added extra details, however having conversations with Farid made me realise that it didn't really go with the theme as the other images were faceless models but I was glad to give it a go. In the end we decided on the faceless models, as it gives more anonymity and mystery to the design.
