ARTIST RESEARCH "AT THE BOAR'S HEAD"

Liudas Barkauskas

Lidas is a digital illustrator that created a series of artwork called Totem. It was based around the theme of the animal spirit and how certain animals can portray our personalities. He mainly works using just line to create his art. I like the way he overlays the animal sketch over the human portrait, it creates a synergy between human and animal. I admire the detail of the line and the difference in weight that he uses to create depth. This is the type of design that I would want to use in my own work.

Jonathan Lawes

Jonathan is a screenprint artist who actually studied at Leeds Arts University and graduated in 2009. His distinct style has a very graphic edge to it, he uses a variety of geometric shapes and patterns. He loves to work in a loose organic way, these abstract compositions are created during his printing process. I admire the way he uses layers and shapes to create more depth in his work and the use of colour makes it stand out.
